We are just a few months away from the much anticipated release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. (In case you don't know what I'm talking about, you should just see the trailer below. Make sure you watch until the very end!)
So yeah. Pretty awesome, right? Today I have created a list about why I am excited for this film.
1) It's a throwback to the original trilogy.
The Star Destroyers. The Stormtroopers in classic armor. The AT-AT walkers. The return of all these iconic Imperial weapons and attire was enough to give me nerdy chills (I literally did get chills in the first teaser trailer when the AT-ATs appeared. I still do, by the way.) These classic images bridge the gap between the generations.
2) It introduces some new things into the Star Wars Universe.
This is the mastery of the new Star Wars movies. They invoke nostalgia by bringing back the Star Wars weapons and ships and characters we love, while at the same time making us fall in love with a whole new part of the galaxy we didn't know existed. In Rogue One's case, we see new Shadow Troopers clad in imposing black armor, and the new U-Wing spacecraft, joining the likes of the beloved X-Wing and Y-Wing. Some observing eyes have even noticed troopers with golden armor appear in the teaser trailer.

3) James Earl Jones returns as Darth Vader.
Ok. This one is probably enough to go see the movie alone. If you watched the trailer above, (if not, spoiler alert!) you can catch a glimpse of the Sith lord at the very end with his iconic breathing playing. While some speculate that, because of his brief appearance in the trailer, he will only have a minor role in the movie, it's still preeetty awesome.
4) It could have ties to the Star Wars Rebels television show.
If you're unaware of Star Wars Rebels, it is a TV show that has been airing on Disney XD for a few years. Season 3 premiered this past Saturday. The show itself is around the same time of Rogue One, and follows the young Rebellion's fight against the Empire. Some characters from the Clone Wars television series have made appearances in the show. Saw Gerrera, who was in the Clone Wars television show, will appear in Rogue One, played this time by Forest Whitaker. Could Saw or another Rogue One character appear in Rebels? We'll have to wait and see, but Rebels executive producer Simon Kinberg hinted that this could be a possibility: "So it's trying to balance the two different things, like the original cast from the first season with Clone Wars, with characters from the original movies, and maybe even feeding into future movies."
Well, there's my list. What are you most excited about for Rogue One? Let me know in the comments!
