If you aren't subscribed to my email list (which you can do here), I announced the release of the sequel to my four-part spy thriller "Kill Code" a couple of months ago, and I cannot be more excited about it's release tomorrow. I have to say (without tooting my own horn) that this is my favorite story I've written so far. It's packed with action and twists at every turn, and the characters may go in directions you don't expect...
"Helper: Part I" will pick up where Kill Code left off--a couple of years afterward, in fact. Darci Mendelssohn's life has completely turned upside down since she crippled the secret anarchist group Arachne two years ago, but nothing could prepare her for what's to come. When the Cellar unearths a mysterious new mineral with strange powers, a nefarious extraterrestrial empire takes notice--and help from one of their own may be her only hope to save Earth from literal collapse. “What a shame, Darci,” came his groggy voice, a glint passing briefly over his gaze. “It slipped right under your nose.” His voice echoed ever louder in her mind until she awoke, gasping for air and sweating profusely. The fact that she was often in perilous situations frequently gave her nightmares, but this one seemed different. It was so real, so vivid, so imminent. You'll be able to catch Helper: Part I on Wattpad or my blog. And, new parts will be coming out every two weeks until the exciting conclusion of Part VII. Stay tuned to my social media so you never miss a bit of the excitement! If you need a refresher on "Kill Code," you can read all four parts here on my blog or on Wattpad! Thanks guys! -Jordan

I am ecstatic to announce that my new fantasy short story "The Land Between Days" launches today, right here on my blog! I've been super excited about this story, because it is inspired by one of my favorite books of all time, Alice in Wonderland. Here's the blurb:
Rational, fourteen-year old Morgan always tried to avoid the unusual—that is, until the unusual came to him. A head injury suddenly transports him to a strange, upside-down, inside-out world few on earth have ever seen. Along his journey to return to his hometown of Cincinnati, he encounters talking squirrels, moving hills, carriages with square wheels, and city walls made of sand. This humorous adventure, the latest from the author of the imaginative “Oroktiv’s Dream” and the thrilling “Kill Code” series, pays homage to beloved classics like Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, making it a must read for kids and kids at heart. “When Morgan awoke, he found himself not in the light of an orange, flickering streetlamp in the shadowy alleyway, but, instead, in the morning sun’s golden light in the middle of a wood. Instead of cold concrete, he lay upon a soft bed of fallen leaves. He shook his head, sending a dull pain down his face. Gingerly, he rose, not fully realizing the peculiarity of his sudden appearance in a forest. The shush of leaves in the towering trees was the only noise around him, and the fresh air the only smell. As he surveyed the imposing trees, he noticed a strange sort of pink luminescence that traveled between them like fireflies and seemed to breathe a vigorous new life into their leaves. He shut his eyes and opened them a few times, but he did not wake. He did not recall such a wood anywhere near Cincinnati, and he certainly was not dreaming--so, where was he?” Ready to read the whole thing? Click here to go to "The Land Between Days" page, where you can download the story. I hope it brings a smile to your face when you read it and you let your imagination sweep you away into the Land-between-Days! (P.S., May the 4th be with you!) Well, "The Land Between Days" launches in just five days! It will not be immediately available on Wattpad, but you'll still be able to read it right here (for free) on my blog. I can't wait! Until then, I have a couple of surprises in store for this post: the cover and the teaser itself. The cover I'm really excited about this cover. It resembles a lot of the teaser graphics that I've already been sharing (all of which reference a certain concept in the book). Here it is! This is personally one of my favorite covers I've done for any of my short stories. I like how the pink contrasts the black and white background. "What is all that pink about anyway?" you might be thinking. Today, you'll get some answers in the teaser!
The teaser As promised, here is a short excerpt from the story. It isn't a very long story (a fact which those of you with busy schedules will no doubt enjoy), so this paragraph doesn't give away too much. I hope it will just give you a taste for what to expect in the story when it drops. Here goes! When Morgan awoke, he found himself not in the light of an orange, flickering streetlamp in the shadowy alleyway, but, instead, in the morning sun’s golden light in the middle of a wood. He did not recall such a wood anywhere near Cincinnati, and he certainly was not dreaming--so, where was he? What do you think about the excerpt? And what about the cover? Let me hear you in the comments below & be sure not to miss the launch of "The Land Between Days" on May 4th. |
