Happy New Year, everyone!

First, I'd like to say that my prayer for this year is that you are showered with blessings, joy, and peace. I expect 2018 shall be at least twice as good as 2017!

I want to get into what you can expect in 2018 from my blog, but first, I think it's fitting to announce the winner of Who Would Win in a Fight: Star Wars Edition. The competition raged from November all the way to the end of December, but with the finals coming to a close, one Star Wars character has finally prevailed over the others. With a staggering 100% of the vote...

...Luke Skywalker is the WWWF: Star Wars Edition Champion! He joins his old master Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Who Would Win in a Fight Hall of Champions.

Ah, it's so bittersweet that it's finally come to an end! I thoroughly enjoyed this Who Would Win in a Fight competition...watching the way you guys voted was nothing short of exciting!

And speaking of exciting, let's get into what you can expect from my blog in 2018.

It's a little late (because my brain totally failed me yesterday), but the Who Would Win in a Fight: Star Wars Edition finals are here at last! Let's see who won last week's battle--and who will be contending in the finals!

Semifinals Week #2 Results

Picture
Last week, it was Chirrut Îmwe vs. Darth Vader. Though Chirrut fought valiantly, he was no match for the Sith Lord. With 67% of the vote, Darth Vader force choked Chirrut out of the competition to advance into the finals.

That means this week, it's Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader! In case you need help deciding, here's a little info on each character.

As one reader correctly predicted, Darth got mauled. With a stunning 100% of the vote, Luke Skywalker crushed Darth Maul to advance to the semifinals (which will be held next week)!

Who Would Win in a Fight: Star Wars Edition - QuarterFinals Week #1

The day has finally arrived--WWWF: Star Wars Edition begins this week! I've got an interesting roster cooked up for you guys (which I revealed last month exclusively to my email subscribers), and I am super excited to see who you pick!

I hosted a different WWWF last year/beginning of this year, but if you've never played before, here's how it works:

1) Each week, leading up to the finals on December 26th (I'll give y'all Christmas off, ha!), I'll be posting a new matchup between Star Wars characters, complete with fight scenes.
2) You'll vote in a poll to decide which character would win in a fight (or, for those of you with favorite characters, who you would like to win in a fight). Typically, you'll be able to vote in each poll until Wednesday at 11:59 P.M., but for the finals, you'll be able to vote until Thursday at that time.
3) The following week, I'll reveal the winner of the previous week's matchup. If you want to see your favorite character crowned WWWF Champion, you have to vote!

Now that you're up to speed, let's get started with Quarterfinals Week #1 of WWWF: Star Wars Edition!

Official Roster and Week #1 Vote

Above is the official bracket for the competition, and we begin Week #1 with a most curious matchup--Rey vs. Ezra Bridger from the Disney XD TV series Star Wars Rebels.

The release of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is just a few months away, and I'm celebrating in a huge way.

My email subscribers were first to hear about this exciting event (if you aren't signed up and you want to be in on the latest news from your favorite series, you can do so here), but now, I'm ready now to let all of my readers know. December 2017 will officially be Star Wars Takeover Month on my blog. So, what does that mean?

First, beginning Friday, December 1st, I will be totally dedicating all of my blog posts to speculation, rumors, and updates leading up to and continuing after the release of The Last Jedi. Do not miss the conversation on my blog--including opinion polls I'll be conducting in the comments section--in December. For the best experience, be sure to sign up for Disqus to make joining the discussion as easy as fighting those Jedi who tried to arrest the Emperor!

Second, beginning on November 13th, I'll be hosting the first ever Who Would Win in a Fight? Star Wars Edition. Some tough decisions will have to be made as I pit your favorite Star Wars characters against each other. Eight go in, but one will come out as the WWWF champion. Who will it be? It's up to you, but make sure you vote!

Third, I'll be doing a giveaway of The Last Jedi POP! figures in December--make sure to stay tuned for more details as the date gets closer!

Mark your calendars, and get ready--Star Wars Takeover Month will be here faster than the Millennium Falcon can make the Kessel Run (well, maybe not that fast).

Until then, may the Force be with you!

WWWF? Finals

1/23/2017

Welcome to the Who Would Win in a Fight? Final Round! For six weeks, the battles have raged on up to this moment. Before we begin this round, let's find out who won last week. Drumroll, please...

Who Won Last Week?

With a split 75% of the vote...
Picture
Rey prevailed over Superman in an upset win, which means that she advances to the final round, facing Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi. That's right--it's Star Wars v. Star Wars in the WWWF finals. Let's take a closer look at the two competitors.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

It's no secret that Obi-Wan Kenobi was among the greatest Jedi to ever walk the galaxy. A Jedi Knight and defender of the Galactic Republic, Obi-Wan originally sat under the instruction of Qui-Gon Jinn. After Darth Maul killed his master, Obi-Wan masterfully sliced Darth Maul into two, soon after becoming a Jedi master himself. As a new Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan fulfilled his promise to his late master by taking the young Anakin Skywalker as his padawan. Obi-Wan demonstrated great patience and wisdom as he guided the headstrong Skywalker in the ways of the Force. Anakin's strength did not go unnoticed even by evil, and he soon fell prey to the lures of the Dark Side of the Force. After Anakin went on a murderous rampage through the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan reluctantly but decisively incapacitated his padawan on the fiery Mustafar system. Obi-Wan was eventually struck down by Darth Vader, the heavily mechanized man formerly known as Anakin Skywalker. Despite his sudden death, his spirit lived on, continuing to guide Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force and witnessing the fall of the sinister Empire.

Rey

Not much is currently known about Rey's origins, but she was a strong-willed soul from the backwater desert system of Jakku. When she happened upon an orange and white BB droid, however, her simple life was turned upside down. Rey showed skill in flying the "garbage" Millennium Falcon while her new companion Finn blasted two TIE fighters on Jakku. After this encounter, she finds herself embroiled in the brutal conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, eventually being captured by the evil Kylo Ren himself. Only vaguely familiar with the Force, she resists attempts from Ren to torture her with the Force, and uses Jedi mind tricks to escape from her holding cell. In the most memorable scene in The Force Awakens, Rey uses Luke Skywalker's lightsaber to fight and defeat Kylo Ren with presumably little Force knowledge. What happens next in her journey? We'll find out in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi; but Rey's skill with the lightsaber so far is impressive. Could she win in a fight against Obi-Wan Kenobi? That's what you get to decide this week when I ask...

Who Would Win in a Fight?

It's up to you to decide who will be the Who Would Win in a Fight champion. You'll have till THIS THURSDAY around 9 P.M. to cast your vote, and I'll announce the winner on social media on Friday! Make sure you tell me who you voted for in the comments or on social media using #WWWF! Choose wisely!
