Ah, humans: what ungrateful things we are! We long for the night when it is day, and for the day when the fears of night encroach upon us. Slowly, slowly we whittle our pain-riddled time away, forgetting on purpose each moment that passes. Longing for tomorrow, we push aside the precious present, for we blind ourselves to the beauty of today. Indeed, our hope is that tomorrow is better, but tomorrow never comes.
Even if not pain we feel, we blissfully go on with our lives, neglecting to savor each second. We do not value our time with our families, our friends. We do not breathe in with wonder nature's clean air--we do not gaze, awestruck, at the boughs of the autumn-tinged trees. Nothing as large as a building that touches the clouds nor as small as a bee going busily about his work is enough to grab our attention.
A horrible pain fills my heart as I wonder--have I savored each moment? Have I let the marvels of the world slip through my fingers unappreciated? If so, let it be no longer! We have but a little while before our lives are ended: let us cling to those dear bittersweet memories of the beautiful time we have.
