They are the ones whom we sometimes, as they say, hate to love, and who we many times love to annoy. They are some of the few people we have to live with for a long time, and yet we ofttimes leave them by the wayside. While we go about our lives, they are the ones on the sidelines, cheering us silently onward; yet, they would be the first to laugh if we fell. In our bitter humanity, we set our focus on the things like the latter and forget that which they have done in support of us. Our brothers--though they would be the first to laugh if we fell, they would, too, be the first to extend a hand. If they were quick to drive us insane, they are all the quicker to love.
And as I share a laugh with my two constant friends, my heart cherishes their place in my life. Heaven forbid that we should treat these who have not wavered with unjust contempt! The Almighty establishes brothers as a fork in the road: shall we go on our whole lives looking with hypocritical eyes at people's flaws, or shall we instead choose to gaze upon our fellow man with softness, deflecting malice with kindness? Whatever hurts we harbor, the force of brotherhood is stronger, binding all mankind together. Let our brothers be a lesson to us, to lay aside our wounds, to make amends with those with whom we have struggled, and to love.
